This Week on the Island 11/27/2016
‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update
to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except
for those parts that are lies.
Weather:
Another beautiful week just like the last 3 or 4. We are into the dry season and the temperature
is in the low 80’s in the day and low 70’s at night. Lots of sunshine, blue
skies and white fluffy clouds.
The book
this week was ‘Key West Confidential’ by Bud Naveron. A great book about old Key West
(1960’s till today). I really enjoyed this book.
This
week we had Burt Reynolds in town.
We had
the lighting of the lights around the Key West Bight.
We also
had Sand Sculptures on the beach at the Casa Marina.
We had
500 bikes down Duval Street after their ride from Miami to Key West.
We also
have lots of flowers in bloom
Some friends were in town
I like
old pictures and maps of Key West. This is a picture of the Customs House when
it was on the beach, before the land around it was fill in. In the left top corner
thru the trees is Ft Zack when it was surrounded by water.
Key West
you have got to love it
