This Week on the Island 06/10/2012

This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
'-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weather: We are an island. Other than a front coming thru or a hurricane we stay about the same temperature as the water. The good news is that the day time high isn’t much warmer that the temperature at night. The bad news is it really doesn’t cool off at night.

No book this week.

I mentioned the filming of an auto commercial as two cars raced from coast-to-coast. I saw the commercial as I watched Eureka this week.

This week was ‘Pride Week’. It used to be ‘Gay Pride Week’. Lots of activities around town. The parade down Duval will be Sunday.

I also mentioned that Bobolues closed and would be turned into a Bar-b-que place. This is what it looks like now.

Cowboys has closed it was on Green Street next to Captain Tony’s.
-----------------------------Signs around Key West---------------------

Sign in the Green Parrot.

One of the city commissioners is trying to get the speed limit lowered to 20MPH in Old Town.

Sign in the window at Two Monkeys Antiques.

How much loitering does it take to be too much?

Mike and Amanda from New York were at the table next to us at Schooner on Friday. I believe they were celebrating their 10th anniversary. He put a video of Sassi and me dancing to Schooner Wharf Dog on YouTube. He thinks it has had about 1 million hits. Sassi is now too old to dance it hurts her hips.
