This Week on the Island 09/14/2014

‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: It is truly the rainy season/hurricane season/summer. Some rain most every day with temperatures in the mid 80’s and lots of humidity. More rain on the way.

This week I read ‘Key West Explained’ by Marsh Muirhead. A great little paperback that made me want to visit Key West. I suggest that you may want to read it if you are coming here, been here, or ever heard of the place.

This week there was not a lot happening. I did forget to mention that last week was ‘Women in Paradise’. Lots of ladies holding hands. Next week is ‘Bike Week’, so it will be lot of bikes with no mufflers.
The excitement this week was giving Boca a bath. He smelled doggie, he didn’t want a bath. We had a ‘discussion’ he won and he still smells doggie. This is a picture of my hand.

I was going to the library to get a new book to read next week when Tim (he used to give tours for Parrot Heads) came by and mentioned that Michael Haskins was down at Smokin' Tuna signing his latest book ‘Nobody Wins’. I got on my trike and went to Smokin' Tuna and got a copy.

Michael gave me a ticket for an adult beverage, so I went outside to the bar and met Amber

And we talked as I had my rum and orange juice. Life is good in the Keys.
We leave you this week with a picture that just says 'Key West'.
Key West you have got to love it
