This Week on the Island 03/27/2016
‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
Weather:
Cold last week end, then beautiful in the middle of the week, cloudy and humid
for the week end.
The book
this week was ‘Starkey’s Key West’ by Elizabeth Hilleren. I like holding a book
in my hand as I read. The books last week and this week have been iBooks. I am having a hard time getting used to
reading them on line.
This
weekend is Easter and Spring Break is over for this year. I hope you have a
great Easter and find all the eggs.
Last
week The Key West Citizen had a good article and pictures of me and the dogs.
Yankee
Jack, a performer at The Bull, died week before last. He will be missed.
Kenny
Chesney was in town and did a free concert at Sloppy Joes on Tuesday.
March 23rd
was ‘National Puppy Day’.
El
Galleon Andalucia sailed into the Key West Bight on March 24
and docked at the end of Margaret Street between Half Shell and Turtle Kraals.
The
Stones gave a concert in Havana on March 25th. You were supposed to
be able to hear the music from the beach. Didn’t hear a thing.
The
Polynesian Voyaging Society’s canoe, the Hokulea, is pictured Thursday docked
at the Key West Bight. The boat arrived late Wednesday. The canoe, along with
its sister vessel, the Hikianalia, are traveling more than 60,000 nautical
miles around
the globe with a message of sustainability. Now on the Caribbean leg of its
voyage, the vessel will head to Cuba after its stay in Key West. For
information on the voyage, visit http://www.hokulea.com
We end
with another sunset from Howard Livingstons Facebook page.
Key West
you have got to love it
