This Week on the Island 06/11/2017

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Same as the last two weeks. Hot and humid until November.
This week’s book was ‘Key West Fatal Tangents’ by Elizabeth Hilleren.
Hurricane Season started 1 June. The city is de-nutting all the coconut trees on city property. A coconut flying at about 100mph can do some damage in a hurricane.
Teeki and I rode by the Southernmost Point in the Continental USA.
Duval Street was blocked for the ‘Pride Fest’ festival and a parade down Duval was held Sunday Afternoon.
I started doing this some years before moving to Key West. I have tried to maintain the habit over the years. I don’t know if I should call it a habit. More like an enjoyment from time to time.
We close this week with a picture from some years ago. The Pride Flag stretching from the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico down Duval Street.
Key West, you have got to love it
