This Week on the Island 12/22/2019
‘This Week on the
Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings
in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: It started as another beautiful
week, but a cold front came thru on Tuesday. The temperature dropped into the
low 60’s. Back to the high 70’s by the weekend.
Started
a new book this week.
We had
lots of ships in this week. This pic shows three in a line. One at the outer
mole, one at pier B. and one at Mallory Square.
There
are little flowers growing in the grass at the Truman Waterfront.
Teeki
enjoying the outdoors.
Coconuts
in the trees.
Then the
cold front came thru and Schooner had to lower their canvas walls.
Front
Street with Duval in the background. The building that looks like it is in the
middle of the street is currently the train station for the Conch Train on the corner of Front and Duval. This
all burned to the ground in the great fire of April 1886.
And last
but not least, our house decorated for Christmas.
