This Week on the Island 09-02-2018

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: September is here. Still hot and humid for at least another month, but a little cooler at night.
The book this week was ‘Hunted in the Keys’ by Matthew Rief.
Let’s take a ride with Teeki around the block. We start parked in front of our new Volv0. We got it in Miami on my birthday in May.
Then B.O.’s (Buddy Owens) Fish Wagon.
Across the street is Pepe’s.
And Harpoon Harry’s.
Turn left toward the bight and we pass The Key West Bait and Tackle Shop
Dante’s
Half Shell Raw Bar
Turtle Kraals
And the building the original Margaritaville was housed in before moving to Duval Street.
Next, we go past The Cuban Coffee Queen
The Water Front Brewery
Then on past Schooner Wharf Bar.
And down Lazy Way Lane.
We take a right past Jimmy Buffett’s recording studio (Shrimp Boat Sounds).
Over to Conch Republic Seafood
And Pass Kermit’s Key Lime Shop.
Then Home. Interesting little trip around my block?
We leave you this week with  The Bat Tower that no longer exist. It was at MM17 until Hurricane Irma took it down almost a year ago.
