‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Wednesday morning it was 74 degrees. Very unusually for Key West. Beautiful weekend, but lots of rain during the week.
This week I read ‘Sex, Salvage & Secrets’ by Reef Perkins. If you remember Vietnam and you know a little about Key West, then this is a great book. I went to Smokin’ Tuna on Friday to meet him and Hasking and talk to them about their books. It seems I was a little early. They will be there next Saturday.
Saturday some nice folks from Stewart, Florida set next to us at Schooner. They were readers of this blog. There friends were from New Jersey and had lost everything in Hurricane Sandy.
-----------------------------Hemingway Days-------------------
Lots of Hemingway’s in town this week.
Hemingway’s and the running of the bulls on Green Street. Picture by Rob O'Neal.
Of course I had to get in on a little of the action.
Friday night at B.O.‘s Fishwagon and listening to Barry Cuda. He plays a piano that he rolls around town on big rubber wheels.
Then we strolled on down to Captain Tony’s.
Next we went to listen to some Cuban music at Pepe’s at Mallory Square.
We also visited the Chart Room.
What is a night out in Key West without watching a sunset? This one from the top of the La Concha Hotel.
Key West, You have got to love it
