This Week on the Island o7/24/2022

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: Same as it has been for weeks - HOT, HOT, HOT!

If you have been to Key West, you have probably seen this sign. The Southern end of US#1 and the beginning of US#1 North.

There is another sign in Ft. Kent, Maine with the Northern end of US#1 and the beginning of US#1 South.

This week have been Hemingway Days in Key West. We had a race.

Even Forrest Gump showed-up.

There also was a paddle board race.

And don’t forget the Hemingway Look Alike Contest and the Running of the Bulls.

Some of the contestants on the corner of Green and Duval outside Sloppy Joe’s.

With part of Duval Street blocked for a Street Fair.

Teeki, Bolt, Jo and I were setting on the front porch Saturday morning.

This being Hurricane Season I thought I should show The Grotto over at the Catholic Church. Lots of dust from the Sahara in North Africa in the air now and that keeps the air dry and also gives us beautiful sunsets. The dust keeps hurricanes from forming. https://www.wlrn.org/.../a-catholic-sisters-vision-in-key...

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.  If you are retired, even Monday morning can be like another Sunday morning.
