This Week on the Island 03/27/2011

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pictures this week (click to enlarge) are ‘Lucy Buffett’, ‘Howard Livingston’ and ‘Howard from our seats’ we were pretty close to the stage.

Weather: Wonderful.

This week I read ‘Plum Lovin’ by Janet Evanovich and started ‘Finger Lickin’ Fifteen’.

Another week of spring break. Not quite as noisy as last weeks crowd. The kids do enjoy having a good time.

This week there was a celebration for Tennessee Williams 100th birthday. He was a Key West resident and wrote some of his plays here.

I spent some time this week painting the rocking chairs on the front porch.

It was a great week for bicycle riding. There was some wind so I stayed in town and it didn’t bother me. If you ride on North or South Roosevelt, the wind can be challenging.

Saturday at Mote Marine Laboratories, on the Truman Waterfront, there was an outdoor concert and fair. Howard Livingston was one of the performers and Lucy Buffett did a cooking show.

Jimmy Buffett was in Sugarloaf Key last Saturday (March 19) for the wedding of Rita Brown and Dr. Fred Troxel. It was his first performance since he fell off the stage in Australia on Jan 26.
