This Week on the Island 10/05/2014
‘This week on the Island' is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather:
Same as it has been for the last 6 months, hot and humid with a chance for
rain.
This
week I started reading ‘The Stone Wife’ by Peter Lovesey. It was a prize given
away at the Cigar Clubs meeting at Smokin’ Tuna last week.
Boca
has sore feet. I took him to the vet and found that he has athletic foot. He
got a shot (shot and visit over $200) and I am spraying his feet a few times a
day with a fungal spray (Tinactin). It is hard for the fungus to dry up as long
as he keeps licking his feet. Also I have got to find a cheaper vet. If you click the picture twice, you will get a larger picture and see that Boca's pupils are star shaped.
I
enjoy going to Ft. Zack. It is a state park on the land fill that was created
when the ships channel was dug. It has a beach (nice for Key West) with
parking, showers, food, and beer. It is family oriented and nice. (Beaches in the
lower keys are rocky. Sand is brought in but as soon as you step in the water
you are on rocks.)
On the
way to Ft Zack you will pass the stables where the Key West Police keep their
horses. I enjoy the smell.
CVS
has 3 stores in downtown Key West. They are opening 2 new stores. One is on the
corner of Duval and Front, the other is in the old Fast Buck Freddies next to
Margaritaville.
We are
toward the end of the rainy season and have had a bit of rain lately. The
flowers are beautiful. They seem to like the hot humid weather.
Key
West you have got to love it
