This Week on the Island 06/19/2016
‘This Week on the Island’ is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
Weather:
Forcast for next 5 months: Hot and humid with a chance for showers.
This
week I started reading ‘Caribbean Gold, the Treasure of Time’ by Michael Reisig.
Howard
Livingston and the Mile Marker 24 Band have followers that call themselves
Coconut Cast-A-Ways. Well the Castaways against cancer raised $75,000 on their kayak
paddle from Key Biscayne to Key West.
White
Street Pier is being repaved. If you enlarge the picture you will see the White
Street Pier. It has been renamed the Edward B Knight Pier.
The 20th
annual swim around Key West was this week. It is a 12 mile swim.
I rode
my trike from Ocean to Ocean this week. OK, so it wasn’t the Atlantic to the
Pacific, it was the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico. OK, so it wasn't all the way across Florida it was only 1 ½ miles
down Duval Street but it still was the Atlantic to the Gulf. Yes that is Sunset Pier in the background on the Gulf side of the island.
Dad’s
Birthday and Flag Day was June 14th.
We end
this week with a great view between two palm trees looking East at the sand,
Atlantic Ocean, blue skies and white clouds.
Key West
you have got to love it
