This Week on the Island 08/02/2015
‘This
Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends
about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those
parts that are lies.
Weather:
Same old, same old. Beautiful, but a little warm. Cooler than many places north of here.
This
week I started ‘Silent Partner’ by Jonathan Kellerman.
This
week was ‘Mini-Lobster’ season. Two days of people gathering as many as 6
lobster per person per day. They must be a certain length, kept whole until you
reach land, and no females with eggs (many other rules). The whole family is on
the boat so they can get lots of lobster and still people have secret compartments
that they hid lobster in. One father and his two sons were caught with their
limit each and 28 more lobster hit in their secret compartment.
We call
them ‘bugs’. A Key West lobster does not have claws.
Some people can't wait to start eating.
There are plenty for everybody.
The professionals are ready to begin at the start of the season.
Sunday
will be ‘The Battle of the Bars’ on Lazy Way Lane behind Schooner Wharf Bar.
More next week.
Next
week is ‘LOBSTER FEST’. Where else can you sit on the curb in 90 degree heat
and eat lobster and drink a beer.
Key West
you have got to love it
