‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: A cold front came thru on Thursday and it was followed by another cold front on Saturday. We had a cold weekend. Lots of wind and some rain.

The book this week was ‘Mile Marker Zero’ by William McKeen. A great history of Key West writers, poets, and artist.

Mike and Cindi were in town from Pennsylvania. Had a great time and a few adult beverages with them.

Met a couple from Chicago on Wednesday at Schooner. Enjoyed them sharing their table with me and Boca.

Found a bank bag full of money on Thursday. Turned it in and later found it belonged to a friend of mine.

The VA tested my hearing last month and gave me hearing aids this Tuesday. Wow! Never realized what I couldn’t hear.

The Jolly Rover sailing between Mallory Square and Sunset Key.

Open Air Festival on Lazy Way Lane Saturday.

There was supposed to be a farmers market on Truman Waterfront on Saturday. Maybe there will be more people next time.

Long live the Conch Republic. There was a flag rising at Fort Zackary Taylor.
