This Week on the Island 05/05/2013
‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: We got some sun in the day and some dark at night. We got lots of wet at both times. In the low 80’s.
This week I started ‘Picture Me Dead’ by Heather Graham.
Hope you have a great Cinco de Mayo.
Wednesday we had 6 cop cars out front of the house. What was going on? Who knows?
A picture from the bed races on Duval Street last Saturday. Girls, don’t get too excited, these guys like guys.
This week was the Key West songwriters Festival and ended with festival on Duval at Sloppy Joes on Saturday. I got this picture between bands getting setup.
We got a little rain on Thursday
Friday it was beautiful.
The city pulled a few bikes from the water at Mallory Square. Wait a minute; I think one of those is mine.
We leave you this week on the dock outside Turtle Kraals looking toward the new Fort Jefferson Museum. Ft Jeff was built during the civil war to control the shipping lanes around Florida. It was built by Union prisoners and was a Union fort. It is most famous because Dr Mudd (of the Lincoln assassination fame) was housed here.
PS
Saturday was Sue's last day at Schooner Wharf.

We went out with friends all the way to Stock Island (MM6) to go back to Roostica. The $5 happy hour menu on the wall looked good so I got 3 sausage sliders and a few adult beverages.
