This Week on the Island 09/16/2012

This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Winter must be on the way, it was 79 degrees Wednesday morning just before the sun came up. It is still in the mid 80’s in the day.

The book this week was ‘Quantum Voodoo’ by Carl Peachey. Carl plays guitar with Michael McCloud at Schooner Wharf Bar. This is Carl’s 3rd novel and he has grown as a writer with each book. I had a hard time putting this one down.

North Roosevelt is under construction from the triangle (where you come onto the Island of Key West) to Bayview Park. The incoming side of the street has been torn up and all traffic comes in on the outgoing lanes. The outgoing traffic is routed to Flagler and South Roosevelt. Confused? You ought to live here.

The City of Key West is moving along with the destruction of the concrete block building at Schooner Wharf Bar. It appears they are only taking the walls down to the top of the old doors or about 8 foot. They will replace the current building with a bigger concrete block building.

Lots of motorcycles in town this week.
