This Week on the Island 05/19/2019

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Hot and humid with a chance of rain.
Teeki and I took a ride after lunch on Sunday. (we take a ride after lunch every day. Sometimes we take pictures, sometimes we don’t)
We went down to the Truman Waterfront Park. This area was a military base and Key West has turned it into a really nice park.
The first thing you reach is the circle.
Behind the circle is the kids water park
And jungle jim (that is what we called it when I was a kid.)
Behind the kid’s park is the Coast Guard Cutter.
Next to that is a nice field.
And a sign about the park.
In front of the Coast Guard Cutter is a lot of concrete
To the right of the concrete is a nice grassy area with palm trees
And a road for maintenance vehicles.
All the way to the end of the concrete is an inlet of ocean water. A bridge would be nice to connect the park to the rest of the water front walk.
To the left of all this is the outer mole
And the inlet from the Gulf of Mexico

We leave you with the Royal Poinciana’s in bloom.
Key West,
Close to Perfect, Far from Normal’
