This Week on the Island 03/10/2013

‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Cold last weekend, then it warmed up for Tuesday and Wednesday, cooler for Thursday and Friday and the beautiful for Saturday and Sunday.

This week I finished ‘Mile Marker Zero’ by William McKeen. A great history of Key West writers, poets, and artist. Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, Truman Capote, Hunter S. Thompson, Tom McGuane, Tom Corcoran, Cpt Tony, Jim Harrison, Phil Clark (a Pirate looks at 40), Guy de la Valdene, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmy Buffett, Jim Harrison, Peter Fonda, Warren Oates, Margot Kidder, Bum Farto, and a few names I didn’t mention.

Boca and I spent some time Friday at Schooner with a couple from Buffalo, NY. They were enjoying the Key West sun while Buffalo was getting more snow.

Spring Break is every week from the first of March until Easter. Easter this year is the end of March so we will only have 4 weeks of spring break. The Spring-Breakers are everywhere.
