This Week on the Island 11/13/2005

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: This is why we live here, it is wonderful.

I got up to walk the dogs Wednesday morning and found a police report on the front steps. A cab driver from Friendly Cab Co. ran into the left front wheel of the parked Hummer last night. No apparent damage. I will have it checked out.

Friday night a young lady ran her scooter into the pile of 'Wilma trash' in front of the house next door. They carried her away in an ambulance.

I took the Suzuki in because it had a roaring in the rear end. Seems the rear end and transmission were full of salt water from the flooding from Hurricane Wilma. It has been repaired.

We had a visit from the Red Cross and from FEMA. We do not qualify for aid from the flooding of our house.

The Schooner America has left the island. It has been sold and is being moved to it's new home on the west coast. http://www.schooneramerica.com/

Atlantic Shores has won it's law suite and now has the 'go-ahead' to convert to condo's.

This weeks book was the latest book by Tom Corcoran, 'Air Dance Iguna' . It is a 'who done it' about hangings in Key West. I found it very entertaining. I enjoy the details of locations around the Key's that are visited by the hero of these books.
