This Week on the Island 03/25/2018

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Spring is here. The bananas are looking good. I copied this from https://conchscooter.blogspot.com/
This week I started reading ’Mangrove Lighting’ by Randy Wayne White.
A bunch of old pictures of Key West. This is Port Rodgers in 1827 (now Key West). The middle of old town was a bunch of salt ponds (no Duval Street). My house was waterfront property (no Lazy Way Lane, no Schooner Wharf, no Turtle Krawls, etc)

The old 7-Mile Bridge. Note the swing gate to let ships thru. This is where the hole is in the bridge now.
The old Gallery
The old Fisherman’s restaurant.
The Oldest Bar.
The old Victoria’s Restaurant.
North Roosevelt during Hurricane Wilma.
We leave you this week with this.
