This Week on the Island 03/19/2023

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: Another beautiful Week. We are in the dry season and rain would be nice. It just goes around the island. We are very dry. No rain.

Key West is 150 miles south of Miami. Our water, electricity and road must travel 150 miles to get to us. Somewhere along the way something is going to happen to one of these. This week it was the water. Boil water in effect for 3 days.

One of the Facebook groups I belong too is about Husky’s. They asked how did you decide on your husky’s name. Well, Teeki s named because of the Tiki bars here.

I can’t mention Teeki and show her picture without showing Bolts picture. He has a lighting bolt on his forehead.

About once a month I will look up and see a crescent moon next to a palm tree. Reminds me of the state of South Carolina.

Cindy and Mike dropped by to say hi. He took the pic.

We have baby pineapples.

Friday was St. Paddy’s Day.

The Sargassum is piling up on Smathers beach.

South Beach (Atlantic end of Duval).

Of course, 3.14 (March 14) was pie day so I made a Key Lime pie.

It has been 3 years since we got ‘last call’ at Schooner Wharf Bar because of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Some sad news. Michael McCloud is retiring to Arizona and leaving the island. His last day will be April 30th.

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.
