This Week on the Island 02/05/2023
‘This Week on
the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about
happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts
that are lies.
The Weather: Another cold front moving thru the Keys. The one in December was 5 days long. We had another spell of winter on MLK weekend. I remember is South Carolina there would be 2 weeks in February that we got cold and sleet. It was a good time to do taxes. I really don’t like cold weather, maybe that is why we live in Key West.
This week the ground hog saw his shadow. So, there will be 6 more weeks of tourist.
Jimmy Buffett is in town with two shows scheduled at the amphitheater. He also has scheduled two more shows. Our local paper, The Keys Citizen got the dates wrong.
Tom Corcoran has died. I will miss reading his books of which I have read twelve.
Friday was Civil War Days with reenactors camping at Fort Zack and a Parade on Duval Street. HISTORY: Key West was a Union Outpost in the Civil War.
On our morning walk, one day this week, a guy was filming over around A&B Lobster House. This is Teeki, Bolt and I on his film.
America Pie is a song about the day the music died. It happened on this week in 1959.
