This Week on the Island 02/19/2023

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

 The Weather: Another beautiful Week.

The house next door on June 11, 2021.

The house next door on today. They stripped it, jacked it up, and rebuilt it.

In Feb 15, 1898 the USS Maine blew up in Havana Harbor. We went to war with Spain shouting ‘Remember the Maine’. Teddy Roosevelt charged up San Juan Hill, etc, etc. Now we know the USS Maine blew up from the inside and was not sunk by Spain.

The warranty on our 2017 Volvo expired. Our fuel injectors stopped working. There are no Volvo Dealers in the Keys. We spent lots of $$$$$. I guess we should have listened to that guy from Pakistan that wanted to talk about our car warranty.

Hope you had a good Valentines Day.

Lucy’s Retired Surfer Bar on the 200 block of Duval has closed. This place has been Rockets, Sr. Frogs and Cheese Burger in Paradise (until Jimmy's lawyers made them change their name)

In case you missed it. This is the group that did the fly over for the Super Bowl.

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.
