This Week on the Island 08/24/2014

‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
Weather: Same as last week. It’s August. It’s hot and humid. Nothing more needs to be said.
No book this week.
Venus and Jupiter are bright in the early morning sky as the dogs and I take our 5:30 AM walk.

The Raymond Evans was in port Aug 19th at Mallory Square and offering tours.

A rainbow at the end of Caroline Street. I knew this was a good street to live on.

Last week ended with the threat of a hurricane, but by this week end it is headed north.

The limes you buy in the grocery store are Persian limes. A Key West lime is about ½ that size and very tart. This is a Spanish lime. They are falling out of the trees all over the island.

Songwriters convention here in Key West back in May. Take 2 minutes and watch. Things like this are why I love this town.

No trip to Key West is complete without a visit to our graveyard.

Last but not least. Jo and I went to vote on Saturday at lunch. We walked the dogs down to the Court House. Then we went by the Court House Deli for a Cuban sandwich, and over to the Green Parrot for an adult beverage.  Life is good.

Key West you have got to love it
