This Week on the Island 08/10/2014
‘This week on the Island' is
written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key
West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather:
A hurricane formed off the east coast of Florida on Monday, but it did not come our
way. We had rain and humidity.
This
week I started reading ‘The True Sea’ by F. W. Belland.
Sunday
was Battle of the Bars on Lazy Way Lane behind Schooner Wharf.
Teams from bars
run an obstacle course to see who gets the best times with no mistakes. (1) The
first team member mixes a margarita, (2) The second member takes the margarita
to the table (3) The third team member drinks the margarita (best job on the
team), (4) The fourth member cleans the table and runs to the recycle bins and
put the right stuff in the right bins (5) The fifth member rolls a keg to the
table and puts in the tap. (6) The sixth member pours 6 beers and carries them
to their teammates. Each teammate drinks their beer and put the glass on their
head before the next team member can drink their beer. Time stops when the last
team member puts their empty beer glass on their head.
This
week end we had Lobster Fest. Where else can you sit on the curb of the street
in 90 degree heat and eat lobster and drink beer.
A picture from last year’s Lobster Fest with
Boca and the beer for the week end.
If you missed Lobster Fest, they have a lobster special at Half Shell Raw Bar.
We leave you this week with another Key
West sunset. This one from Howard Livingston and Facebook.
PS
Jo and I just watched 'Russkies' on Movie-Plex. It is a 1987 film and is pretty dumb, but it was filmed in Key West and we enjoyed arguing about where each scene was filmed.
Key West you have got to love it
