This Week on the Island 07/13/2014

‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Summer is here. The weather for the next 4 months will be hot and humid with a chance for rain or maybe a hurricane.
This week I started reading ‘Hot Mahogany’ by Stuart Woods.
Week before last I had a picture of the closed Red Fish-Blue Fish on Front Street. Thursday night Koda, Boca and I were walking down Wall Street and noticed people were still at the rear of Red Fish-Blue Fish. So I guess the back is still open but the front is being remodeled.
De Ja Vu on Green Street across from old city hall has closed.

This building on the Corner of Front and Duval is empty.

And this blue one right across the intersection of Duval and Front is also closed.

Mel Fisher Days were this week (www.melfisherdays.com) click EVENTS.
Mel Fishers treasure hunting boat the Macgruder was docked by Schooner Wharf for the festivities this week. The kick-off party was at Schooner on Thursday.

Of course there was a bar crawl and a street fair.

We leave you this week with a view on Friday of the ships channel by Mallory Square.

Key West you have got to love it
