‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Same as last week-Another beautiful week, low 80’s in the day and low 70’s at night. Lots of sun.
The book again this week was ‘Bone Deep’ by Randy Wayne White.
Had some friends in town that I had not seen since I left South Carolina 15 years ago. We met at Louies Backyard on the back deck.

We sat next to the rail next to Dog Beach. My friend is thinking of retiring. He has done quite well for himself and likes to spend his time traveling the world. I pointed to the palm trees next to the Atlantic at the Casa Marina and how beautiful it was. Then we discussed his travels and how he had never been to Key West.

We had lunch at Salute’ and he said he enjoyed these banana republic type of places.

I rode my trike over to Simonton and Virginia to see what was left of the old trailer park. Not much.

We purchased a 2002 Chevy Tracker to replace the old 1992 Suzuki Samurai.

A replica of Magellan’s ship was brought to the Truman Waterfront. It had a problem with its’ rudder.

We ending the week, by not going to the 7 mile bridge run.

We went to Hurricane Hole to wait on the runners from the Cow Key Channel run.
