‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Hot and humid with a chance for rain. Near 90 in the day and low 80’s at night.
This week I finished reading ‘Bad Monkey’ by Carl Hiaasen.
Having a great July 4th with my wife and my friend Greg.
Remember the movie ‘Caddy Shack’? Remember Rodney Dangerfield and the yacht scene. Well that yacht has been renamed ‘Pau Pau Bay Dreaming’ (it was Seafood in the movie) and it is visiting in the Key West bight this week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGD-tUsySPs
Friends celebrating their 37th anniversary at Schooner.
Boca and I were playing kind of rough and I got bit on the finger. It got infected. I went to a local Doctor and paid with my Medicare card. I got a bill from Medicare, they were charged $600.00. Medicare felt that only $144.21 of these charges were approved and all of that went toward my deductable for the year. I waited until I got a bill from the Doctor which was $119.21. No wonder Medicare is draining the government.
An 8 foot Key Lime Pie was served up on Green Street on July 4th. Picture from Rob O’Neal’s Facebook.
Friends of mine from were celebrating her birthday at Schooner.
We leave you this week with baby sea turtles making there way to the sea.
Key West, You have got to love it
