‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lie.

Weather: The rainy season is definitely here. It is hot and humid with a chance of rain every day. High near 90 low in the low 80’s. But we are still cooler than many places much father north.
This week I read ‘Bad Monkey’ by Carl Hiaasen.
------------------------July 4th next week -------------------
Jo and I last year on July 4th.. We plan to do the same this year.
My upper and lower jaws were broken in 2 places when I was in the service. That has given me dental benefits with the VA. Monday I went to the Miami VA for dental work. Seems one of my jaw teeth, next to one of the breaks in my jaw, was falling apart. They dug out the old repair and did a compete makeover on the tooth. I’m good to go.
These pictures are from Rob O’Neal’s Facebook. Seems there was some Special Forces training this week. All the services do training here because of the nice weather. If you are a pilot, part of the training is getting into a raft from the ocean. They fly over, kick you out with a parachute, and the rest is up to you. That may or may not be what is happening here.
This is the area of the Key West cemetery where some of the guys from the USS Maine are buried. The Spanish-American War and ‘Remember the Maine’. The ship blew up in Havana harbor.
‘The Wall’ in Washington DC in remembrance of the Vietnam War.

---------------------Other Stuff---------------------------------
This week I heard a new description of Key West, "An open air insane asylum,"
As Boca and I were walking Thursday afternoon on Elizabeth Street over near the grave yard, we ran into some readers of this blog that were from Sweden. Nice people.
Next week Jo and I celebrate our 42nd Wedding Anniversary.
Our friends from Lake Charles, LA are leaving town but our friends from Cincinnati, OH are in town to celebrate her birthday.
We leave you this week on South Roosevelt looking across Smathers Beach at the Atlantic Ocean.
Key West, You have got to love it
