This Week on the Island 12/05/2004

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There be pirates here! What is the 18th letter of the pirate alphabet? Rrrrrrrrrrrrr! This is Pirates in Paradise Week. Go to www.SPHCKeyWest.com and click PHOTO'S to view some pictures.

The guys from 'Little Feat' left the recording studio this week. Mac McAnnaly was playing with them, he is really a nice guy.

This weeks book was 'Twelve Mile Limit' by Randy Wayne White. He writes about action taking place in the 1,000 isle area of Florida. (On the Gulf Side, south of the Everglades). The book was about white slavery and going into South America to retrieve the women that had been captured.

Jo and I went to the Casa on Tuesday, Nov 30, for the Decorated Christmas Tree and Ornament Auction. There were 12 decorated Christmas Trees and a dozen or so round glass ball ornaments with celebrities signatures The one with Buffett's signature went for the most money $525.00. Others were: Clint Eastwood, Oprah, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mel Gibson, Whoopi, Garth Brooks, Bill Cosby, Kevin Costner, Neil Diamond, Bernadette Peterson, Johnny Carson, Sara Jessica Parker and Chris North. We wore shorts and Christmas Shirts.

The house across the street is for sale. It is almost 1,000 sq ft and they are asking $900,000. The house next door is a little over 2,000 sq ft with a dipping pool and he is asking $1.6 million. We could sale and make quite a profit, but then where would we live.

The Schooner Western Union is back in the Bight. Every year they have her bottom scraped and repainted.

Big Foot the cat's trial is next week.
