This Week on the Island 11/14/2004

'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another wonderful week on the island. The weather has been in the low 80's in the day and the low 70's at night (no air conditioning), but by Saturday it was back to normal Key West weather. The island is packed because of the Memorial Day weekend and the cold weather up north. (8 inches of snow in Boston this week).

We had some people in from way up north this week and they have loved it. They really enjoyed watching the Memorial Day Parade as they stood on the sidewalk next to Margarittaville while wearing shorts and t-shirts with a margarita in hand. The parade participants throw candy and beads to the crowd and a few have dog biscuits for Wyleigh and Sassi. Life is good.

On Tuesday we had 4 cruise ships in the harbor. That means one has to park near Fort Zachary Taylor and have their passengers shuttled in to Mallory Square. The lower end of Duval was packed.

A lady was standing on Duval at Sloppy Joe's in front of the Street Cam. While talking to her friends on her cell phone, she FLASHED them. She was later told that it was an internet connection and that FLASH just went world wide. She was quite embarrassed because she thought that only her friends would see her.
