This Week on the Island 07/31/2022

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: We got some rain this week so it has been cooler.

This week was Mini-lobster Season. Our lobsters do not have claws. We call the bugs.

This was the Christmas in July Bike Ride.

This was Victoria Restaurant before Sloppy Joe’s moved into the building.

This was The Oldest Bar before Captain Tony’s.

This was The Gallery before The Bull and Whistle.

This was The Anchor Inn before the Red Garter. (Down at the old

Anchor Inn – Jimmy Buffett).

This was The Commanders Quarters before The Little White House. Note that it used to be waterfront.

This is The Southernmost Beach before South Beach.

This is Tank Island before Sunset Key. The island in the background was call The Whisteria it is now call Christmas Tree Island.

This is the ship Whisteria that the island is named after. It is now underwater to the west of the island.

This is the Old Seven Mile Bridge before the new Seven Mile Bridge.

We leave you with ‘Easy like Sunday morning’.
