This Week on the Island 11/17/2019

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather:  Cold front came in Friday night with some rain.  The low Saturday night is supposed to be 68 degrees. Doors and windows are open.

Still reading

On October 28^th we displayed 76 bananas from out banana tree.

Then we got 26 ripe bananas.

Then we got 20 more. The yellow ones on the stalk.

The rest will be put into the freezer this week when they get ripe.

The buzzards are back. They are about 2 weeks late this year.  It is also a sign that hurricane season is over.

The old house on the 600 block of Caroline Street was jacked up and put on new pillars. Now they are removing the outside boards.

This is Fort Zack Beach. 7 miles out is the 3^rd largest reef in the world. That reef protects Key West and keeps our waters calm. At the reef this week is a U.S. Navy Aircraft carrier. They are training the new pilots on take offs and landings.

As mentioned earlier. A cold front came thru. We have the doors and windows open.
