‘This Week on the
Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings
in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The
Weather: Beautiful
The
Parrot Heads (Jimmy Buffett Fans) were in town this week.
A new
ship was in harbor this week.
I looked
it up and it seems to be a Holland Class Offshore Patrol Ship
And was
flying a Netherlands Flag.
It was
the anniversary of the passing of Captain Tony.
And of
course, Halloween.
The name Key West is actually a misnomer. Spanish settlers originally called Key West Cayo Hueso, which translates to bone island, referring to the bones of the Calusa Indians who had once lived in the Florida Keys. English speakers mistook Cayo Hueso, thinking it sounded like Key West and the name stuck.

this Volkswagen in the parking lot.
And no
week would be complete without a trip to Schooner Wharf.
This
week ends with a rainbow over Duval Street.
Next
