This Week on the Island 05/06/2021

This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather

Teeki and I went for a walk as the Sun was coming up on Friday morning.

As we passed the Woman of Many Parts on the Corner of Southard Street across from 5 Brothers, I took a photo with my Iphone.

Then we passed this house and I took a picture of the gingerbread. This guy played the violin.

That got me to thinking about Gingerbread in Key West. It used to show what the owner of the house did for a living. This one is gingerbread men.

This is an island, so many of the people here made their living on the sea. Lots of houses have waves.

This house has a ships wheel above the entrance, so the owner of this house was a ships captain. Interest that it also has the arch with the arrow thru it to represent a sexton, for a navigator.

This one also represents a navigator.

Conch Shells

Waves and NSEW, (North, South, East, West).

Pineapples

Seahorses

Starfish and Sand Dollar

Turtles

This house has wine bottles, whiskey bottles, Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, Clubs from playing cards.

Our house has Lobster.

We leave you with this, Easy like Sunday morning.
