This Week on the Island 12/30/2018

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Beautiful. In the low 80’s in the day with blue skies and white clouds and very low humidity.
The island is packed. There are people everywhere. But next week they will be gone and we will still be here.
Let’s talk about coconuts. They are also everywhere on the island. This is a coconut tree. See the coconuts in the top of the tree?

This is a coconut that fell out of a coconut tree.

This is a machete. That is my banana tree in the background.

This is a machete and a coconut on the chopping block.

This is a coconut with the outside (green part) chopped off leaving the fruit of the coconut.

This is the meat of the coconut. The glass in the back has the juice that was drained out the hole I made in the coconut half on the right.

You pay to get a bag full of shredded coconut meat at the grocery store. We get it from the coconut.
'You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up'. That is a song about a person with an upset stomach that called the doctor. The doctor told him to put the lime in the coconut juice and drink it all up because it will send you to the bathroom and clean you all out.
