This Week on the Island 10/18/2015
‘This
Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends
about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those
parts that are lies.
Weather:
Beautiful. Some rain. Lots of sunshine, blue skies, white clouds and
temperature in the mid 80’s.
Another
week of slow time (not many tourist).
Saturday
morning Koda and I took a walk over to the bight and pass the Dry Tortugas
Museum.
The city
is rebuilding the parking lot in front of Half Shell Raw Bar.
I took a
trike ride to see what was happening. Captain Tony’s open but nothing happening.
Sloppy
Joes open but nothing happening.
The Bull
and Whistle open but nothing happening.
Willie T’s
open with a guy playing 60’s and 70’s music. Lots of Jimi Hendrix. I stayed a
while.
Green
Parrot open but nothing happening.
Lazy
Way Lane has been paved.
We leave
you at Simonton Beach looking out toward Christmas Tree Island (used to be
Wisteria Island). It was called Wisteria because that was the name of a ship that sunk
there before the island was built by the Navy using the material they dug from the ocean bed to create the ships channel. The fisherman used the Wisteria's
deck to ‘process’ the shark they caught. Koda likes this beach.
Key West
you have got to love it
