This Week on the Island 12/18/2011
'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The pictures this week, (click to enlarge) are ‘Boca’, ‘People Cake’ and ‘Dog Cake’.
Weather: Another beautiful week.
This weeks book was ’Smokin’ Seventeen’ by Janet Evanovich.
Last Sunday we celebrated Boca’s 7th birthday at Schooner Wharf. There was people cake, dog cake, and gift bags of dog treats for Boca’s dog friends. We had Michael McCloud as entertainment and he sang ‘Schooner Wharf Bar Dog’. We had Caribbean chicken wings and Sassi and Boca had the bones. A good time was had by all.
----------------------------------A day in my life--------------------------------------
Monday I was up at 5:00 AM to take Sassi and Boca for their 1st walk down to Duval Street for their morning business. Then home to read the paper and drink coffee and check the internet while Jo got ready for work. After taking Jo to work the puppies and I went for their 2nd walk and then I came home and I got ready for the day.
I cleaned the turtle pool and carried the baby turtles out to be with the adults. Next I washed the dishes and vacuumed the house. I cleaned the tub, the sink and the john with comet cleaner and then it was time to clean the bathroom floor. The wall was dirty from where Boca likes to lay beside the tube so I cleaned that. This reminded me that the door to the upstairs was also dirty from Boca lying against it, so I cleaned it and the floor in that area. While I was at it I cleaned the floor at the front door and notice the wall where Sassi lays was also dirty, so it got cleaned. The doors to the linen closet also got a clean job. Then I rode my bike to the post office to mail a package to a friend of ours in Tampa. Next I came home to watch the noon news and get something to eat.
I took Sassi and Boca for their 3rd walk and then sat on the front porch with the dogs and finished my book for last week. I did my Sudoku for the day and played a little solitary online while we waited for Jo to get home from work. She had a meeting that evening so the puppies and I walked with her to the old City Hall down by Sloppy Joes. We dropped her off and then took a nice long 4th walk.
The sun was going down so I got an adult beverage (coconut rum, and orange juice) and a cigar (Backwoods from Kmart soaked in a little coconut rum). Then I sat on the porch with the puppies and watched the sky change with the setting sun. I thought ‘This has been a good day’ I should tell some one about it. So now I have told you.
