This Week on the Island 04/25/2010
'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pictures this week (click to enlarge) are ‘The Coast Guard doing their job’. Looking for drugs? The second picture is ‘Pirates on the stage at Schooner’.
Weather: The fourth week of the same weather. Wonderful, in the high 60’s at night and high 70’s to 80 in the day, clear blue skies and calm seas.
No book this week.
Joe and Sharon were in from Wisconsin this week.
B.O’s Fish Wagon had a customer that was giving everyone a hard time. When asked to leave he punched Buddy (B.O.), so they sat on him until the Key West Cops arrived.
Last Sunday was the 29th Annual ‘7 Mile Bridge Run’.
Last Saturday was the ‘Drag Races on Duval’.
Monday evening was ‘A Taste of Key West’ and was held down at the Truman Water front. Lots of food vendors from around Key West.
Tuesday Sassi, Boca, Jo and I walked in the Pet Parade from Mel Fishers to Conch Republic Seafood (3 whole blocks).
Thursday Jo and I dressed as pirates and walked in the Conch Republic Parade down Duval. I carry plastic pirate gold coins to give to the kids along the parade route. Arrrr—Pirate Gold.
Saturday was the ‘Bed Races on Duval’. Saturday night was the Pirate Fest at Schooner with Mile Marker 24 Band. Howard Livingston was not with the band as he had to travel up north to visit his sick mother.
