This Week on the Island 10/09/2022

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

The Weather: Hurricane Ian did a lot of damage in Florida. Here in Key West, the eye of the storm passed over the Dry Tortugas. That means it missed us by less than 70 miles. Hurricane Irma passed over near the 7-Mile Bridge 5 years ago, that means it missed us by about 40 miles. They are getting closer. But this week was beautiful.

Although Hurricane Ian missed hitting Key West and the western end of Key West had very little damage, the Atlantic side of Key West took a beating.

Salute covered in sand.

But after the storm this ship was off-shore near the Truman Waterfront.
