This Week on the Island 03/22/2009
'This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The picture this week (click to enlarge) is ‘Tiki Hut Suzuki’. We have lots of island cars on the island. My definition of an island car is one old enough to have rust, some sort of decoration, and unreliable enough to not try to drive to Miami. More ‘Island Cars’ at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ThisWeekontheIsland/ then click PHOTOS then click ‘Island Cars’.

Weather: Wonderful. Low 80’s in the day and low 70’s at night. Lots of sun.
The book this week was ‘Hawk Channel Chase’ by Tom Corcoran. This is his latest adventure of Alex Rutledge the photographer/detective. Good book.
This was the 3rd week of spring break. I don’t think I need to say more. Duval Street is trashed every morning when I take the dogs for that early morning walk.
Monday, Jo came home with a $100.00 gift certificate for Conch Republic Seafood. It was good for 1 year, but the last day to use it was Monday. So we went to Conch Republic Seafood for dinner and a few adult beverages. We had a good time and the waitress got a good tip.
My younger brother has a daughter named Rose. I sent him some pictures of Rose Lane. It is a one block lane running between Simonton and Duval and comes out next to Hard Rock. The pictures are at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ThisWeekontheIsland/ click PHOTOS then ROSE LANE. I like to click SLIDESHOW.
I spent some time on the bicycle this week.
My friends from Northern Michigan that purchased a house in Old Town are back in Key West. His Island Bike (green, blue, yellow) looks nice. I may need to paint mine.
