This Week on the Island 01/13/2019

‘This Week on the Island’ is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.
The Weather: Same as last week and the week before, Beautiful. In the low 80’s in the day with blue skies and white clouds and very low humidity.
The house next door at 710 Caroline Street is for sale for $1.1 million. Its market value is $877,500. It has 6 bedrooms and 4 baths and no living room (the living room was divided into two bedrooms). Built in 1928. It has window A/C.

The house on the other side of me at 704 Caroline Street is for sale at $1.3 million. Its market value is $564,500. It has 4 bedrooms and 5 baths. Built 1928. It has central heat and air.

This is our house between the two that are for sale. We are NOT for sale. We have 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. Built in 1975. We have central heat and air and are 50 years younger that the houses on both sides. For some reason, people ask ‘What is your house worth?’. I always say, ‘It is not for sale.’

When you buy in Key West, what you buy is the weather more than anything or the access to the Gulf, Caribbean, or the Atlantic.

We leave you on a cold January day (63 degrees) in Key West, Fl.

And a sand sculpture.
