This Week on the Island 05/25/2014

‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: Another beautiful week. Highs in the mid 80’s with lots of sun, blue skies, white clouds and a nice breeze.
The book this week was ‘Blood Orchid’ by Stuart Woods.
Memorial Day Weekend.

The 23rd annual Minimal Regatta will be Sunday at Schooner Wharf Bar. Teams build a boat out of one sheet of plywood, two 2x4’s, and some screws. You may paint your boat but you cannot use any caulking. The race starts about 2:00 PM and last until after sunset. Sets of 4 boats at a time race the course in the Key West Bight. One winner in each set of 4 races in the simi-finals until there is one winner. Prizes range from ‘faster sinker’, ‘best paint job’, etc.

How about Key West Finest and horse
